Go On, Pamper Yourself!

One of our greatest gifts as women is our abundance of compassion and the ability to put others ahead of our needs. However, that can often mean we forget to take care of, and take some time for, ourselves.

Whether or not you’ve ditched your resolutions already or are sick of the phrase “New Year, New You,” and no matter where you are on your breast cancer journey, we think it’s time you took the time to take care of you. Because this is your year, if you want it to be. So be bold, be you, embrace life, and pamper yourself!

In preparation for this post, I thought about all of the things I’ve discovered over the past year. And just to be sure, I asked our AO Ambassadors for their faves as well.

So here it is! A list of our favorite things that will refresh and revive your daily beauty (or just get out of bed and make tea) routine and offer you some solutions to the drug-store products you are now avoiding after your cancer diagnosis.

    Piperwai Deodorant  - $11.99 - $16.99

What is it: An all-natural, aluminum-free charcoal deodorant that really works. Yes, seriously.

    Why it’s a favorite:

    • Gentle on sensitive skin
    • No froo-froo scents here - just its signature spa-like freshness
    • Absorbs 1,000x its own weight in moisture - keeps you dry
    • Free of harsh chemicals, instead relying on nature’s pH-balancer: charcoal
    • Rubs on clear, won’t stain your clothes (LBDs rejoice!)

      Spero-Hope Body Butter - $24.00

What is it: A paraben-free, chemical-free body lotion from the line of personal hygiene products made by a breast cancer survivor to keep her body (and yours) pollutant-free.

      Why it’s a favorite:

      • Four delish scents (including pumpkin spice!) keep you smelling equally delish
      • Not only can you pronounce the six ingredients, you know what they are, too
      • Founder and survivor, Jamie, is a speaker and motivator and believes in spreading hope to the cancer community
      • Any product that works well and is aluminum-free, paraben-free and chemical free gets an A+ from the AnaOno Sisterhood

        Bétèrre Skin+Care Golden Elixir - $54.00

Who says nothing gold can stay? With the Golden Elixir you can stay golden forever, Pony Boy (link in bio).

What is it: A beauty blog darling, this elixir is pretty much just that - a head to toe beauty oil made to nourish, soften, smooth and glow. Chock full of essential and exotic oils, this product is pampering in a bottle - you can use it to smooth your delicate skin and even in your hair to get that super shine.

        Why it’s a favorite:

        • Gentle and beneficial for all skin types
        • Tames those frizzies AND eliminates dry, irritated skin (hello, winter and cranked heat)
        • You could possibly grow every single ingredient in your garden
        • Bétèrre Skin+Care takes its time to develop its products and they scour the earth to find the finest botanical ingredients and combinations just for your benefit
        • It’s so all-purpose, you can even use it for calming cuticles, brightening your skin and removing makeup

          Lindi Soothing Balm - $25.00

What is it: A must-have for those cracked hands and feet, either due to winter and harsh conditions, or even chemotherapy. Its super emollient formula will bring you much-needed relief.

          Why it’s a favorite:

          • Lindi is committed to crafting products specifically for those affected by cancer
          • Paraben-free and allergen-free
          • Loaded with avocado and perfect for cracked and peeling skin
          • Works on sunburns, too

Perfectly Posh BFF: Best Face Forever Exfoliating Wash - $21.00

What is it: An exfoliating face wash that's gentle enough for everyday (no scratch or grit) and leaves skin glowing.

            Why it’s a favorite:

            • It contains aloe vera which is high in antioxidants and helps the body repel free radicals and reduce skin damage
            • Contains essential oils and minerals to brighten skin
            • One-step exfoliate and moisturize face wash that supports one of our own Ambassadors
            • Smells divine

Ebb & Flow Unite Massage Oil for Lovers - $24.00

A photo posted by ebb & flow (@ebbandflowbyty) on

What is it: After finding it nearly impossible to find an all-natural lubricant, Ebb & Flow founder and genius alchemist Ty Bramwell decided to share her own personal formula with the masses. Unite can be used in sensual massage and during intercourse.

              Why it’s a favorite:

              • IT WORKS better than anything we’ve tried (and that’s saying something)
              • Handcrafted with exquisite care and detail
              • Made from all-natural, essential oils (even ones proven to be natural aphrodisiacs)
              • It smells absolutely heavenly (no cheesy cherry scents here)

km Mineral Supplement by Univera - $37.00

A photo posted by Alison Hinch (@alisonmaehinch) on

What is it: In my opinion a magical concoction that alleviates a number of things that ail you. Dehydrated? Poor night’s sleep? Iron deficient? Just feeling off overall? This liquid supplement is a morning and evening staple in my kitchen.

              Why it’s a favorite:

              • Contains the essential bitter herbs and minerals for optimal digestive health
              • Helps regulate the body’s pH balance
              • It’s a rehydration miracle, better than anything else I’ve tried
              • All you need is a tablespoon twice a day is your favorite cold drink

              AnaOno Miena Robe - $78.00

What is it:  Yeah, we kinda went there. But only because we get such rave reviews! (And you'll have to wear something fun while treating yourself with all of these spa day products). Everyone needs this buttery, lightweight modal robe in their life.

              Why it’s a favorite:
              • Loose fit tie-front wrap robe for ease of dressing and comfort
              • Come with detachable drain pouch belt
              • Styling allows you to slide into softness and focus on recovery
              • Lightweight, gentle and breathable
              • This is a luxury robe, not just a recovery robe. It will be a staple for you even after treatment  (and you can ditch or donate the belt to a friend)

And one final note to those who will be or are currently growing their hair back after chemo. I was shocked at how itchy (and dry) the growth process was! One solution ias to use Vitamin E oils from Trader Joe's on your scalp and massage it daily. To care for that delicate hair (and encourage growth) I can also recommend taking Biotin supplements and even using coconut oil as shampoo.

Oh, and the best everyday lip balm for winter (and chemo) chapped lips? Palmer's Cocoa Butter Lip Balm. 😘

              Happy shopping (and happy pampering!)

The Dangerous ONES are a group of ONES.
The ONE out of 8 women who will develop invasive breast cancer.
The ONE out of 3 that may develop metastatic breast cancer.
Many of them never thought they would be the ONE.
Some of them have taken measures to prevent being ONE.
Nevertheless they are the ONES who have chosen to be different.

We often get asked about AnaOno bras and insurance coverage, and while insurance guidelines prohibit us from taking insurance online, you may be able to get reimbursement on your purchases.
