I recently had a mastectomy for breast cancer followed by reconstruction with an implant on the missing side and a lift other side so they would match better. The compression bra given to me at the hospital, post mastectomy, had a front velcro closure. On the second week, the stiff banded closure began to irritate the center of my chest so bad I had to stuff tissue and gauze in there to keep it away from my skin. A friend recommended AnaOno. I purchased this bra to avoid the same thing with my reconstruction. This bra is lovely and soft with a more plunging neckline so it will not show in many of my shirts. It has a hook and loop closure with several settings so you can tailor it to your size. The hospital one is like a halter top and often shows above my neckline. However, I cannot wear this new AnaOno bra yet because the lower band falls very near to the incision places below my breasts making them hurt within an hour of putting it on. The hospital bra has its band lower towards my stomach which protects the incisions from the elastic band. I can't wait to wear the new bra as it is softer and more feminine, but I will need to wait until my incisions have healed enough to withstand the lower elastic band. AnaOno is easy to shop with. They respond, confirm and ship immediately. I plan on ordering several other bras from them as underwires cannot be worn anymore and I don't want any average commercial bras going forward. I am very grateful someone who went through this too has created this company with some thoughtful choices for all of us.
This is a great choice for a super soft, incredibly comfortable post surgical bra. I had a diep flap 3 weeks ago and started wearing this after my drains came out. It’s very comfortable and doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin. I do recommend sizing up as I didn’t realize I’d be as swollen as I am so my regular size band was a little snug.
