Many doctors recommend sports bras post-surgery because sports bras have no underwire and have soft cups, not molded ones. However, most sports bras are less than ideal after surgery. They are designed to compress natural breast tissue and to restrict breast movement during exercise. Implants and prosthetics can't be comfortably compressed in the same way as natural breast tissue. Constriction can be painful post-surgery. Another tricky thing about most sports bras is that they are hard to put on and take off.
