We face many inequalities and disparities in our breast cancer community, however being black is one of the deadliest. Your skin color should never negate the right to live. At AnaOno, we recognize these disparities and are advocating for change.

So your wife was diagnosed with breast cancer or a genetic mutation and is now planning to undergo a mastectomy. We know how you must be overwhelmed, scared and a little unsure of how to help her through all of this, but you are not alone. 

Saggy breasts, or  ptosis (a sagging or prolapse of an organ or part), are the change in breast appearance that many people experience particularly when they age. The nipples tend to turn downward and the breasts can lose volume. 

There is a sense of immeasurable remorse when a person has a mastectomy. The weight of the world's idea of what breasts are and what it means to live without them can feel as if it is too much to bear. But when having a mastectomy is inevitable, it is imperative that you not only take care of yourself mentally but physically, as well — and that is where a mastectomy bra comes in.
